Mayon shows increased activity 9 September 2009

There is a news report from the Philippines saying that the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) has issued a new warning about increased activity at Mayon volcano:

Latest data of the agency said 6 volcanic quakes were recently recorded and the increased magnitude of the quakes is a cause for alarm. 750 metric tons of sulfur dioxide emissions were estimated from the volcano which was higher than the recent 200 metric tons.

There is no announcement as yet on the news pages of the Philvolcs website. Mayon remains on Alert Level 2, ‘increasing unrest’.
