Here is the latest Smithsonian Institution and United States Geological Survey Weekly Volcanic Activity Report which covers the week 29 June – 5 July 2011, and is compiled by Sally Kuhn Sennert. Some of the highlights:

  • Kliuchevskoi: eruption produces a plume to 7 km altitude
  • Nabro: lava flows remain hot, brown ash plume rising from vent
  • Puyehue-Cordón Caulle: eruption continues, with active lava flows, and low white/grey plumes
  • Soputan: an apparent strombolian eruption produced 6 km plume and ashfall

  • Kizimen: eruptive episode with ash plumes reaching 4-5 km altitude
  • Nabro: eruption following an earthquake swarm sent ash to 13.7 km altitude
  • Puyehue-Cordón Caulle: eruption continues with continuous ash emission and pyroclastic flows
  • Mayon: slight inflation detected at the summit

  • Dieng Volcanic Complex: carbon dioxide emissions and seismicity both remain elevated
  • Popocatépetl: ash plumes reaching altitudes between 1 and 3 km create ashfall in nearby regions
  • Puyehue-Cordón Caulle: an eruption began on 4 June following intense seismicity
  • Kilaeua: two lava lakes were active during 1-7 June

The Smithsonian Institution and United States Geological Survey Weekly Volcanic Activity Report has been issued for the week 25-31 May 2011. The report is compiled by Sally Kuhn Sennert. Notable volcanic events this week include:

  • Dieng Volcanic Complex: evacuations following increase in gas emissions and seismic activity
  • Grímsvötn: an eruption characterized by explosive activity and ash plumes, with limited ashfall
  • Kilauea: the level of the Pu’u’O’o lava lake continued to fluctuate
  • Taal: water temperature, acidity and water level all rose in Taal’s Main Crater Lake, and there was an increase in seismic activity

The Global Volcanism Program has put together a bumper Weekly Volcanic Activity Report for 8-14 September 2010. Sally Kuhn Kennert of the GVP compiled the report. Some highlights:

  • Nevado del Huila: alert level raised following increase in seismicity and gas/ash emissions
  • Soufrière Hills: several small-to-moderate pyroclastic flows descended the dome and took parts of it down with them
  • Arenal: rumbled its way through August with gas emissions, strombolian eruptions and avalanches
  • Sinabung: threw ash plumes up to 4.3-4.6 km altitude
