Here are some more images of the destruction wrought by Chaitén volcano upon the town that shares its name. As with our previous post, they come from Werner Keller of the Villarrica and Llaima Volcanoes Visual Observation Project (POVI) in Chile. Must be heartbreaking for the residents of the town when they see these images. Especially in the typical disaster situation where houses on one side of the water channel seem untouched while those on the other side are virtually up to the roof line in mud.
